I believe that every family deserves a postpartum doula. My mission is to provide physical, emotional, and informational support to enhance early parenthood. As a professionally trained doula, I work within evidence-based standards of practice to provide confident care for the new family.
My Role as the Postpartum Doula
The postpartum doula’s role is to provide non-medical, confident support and care to the whole family after your child’s birth. Parents delight in getting to know the new arrival yet the transition can be challenging. I am available to help alleviate stressor factors and anxieties while instilling confidence in parents. This may include support by providing evidence-based information on newborn care and breastfeeding, as well as suggestions and assistance with recovering from birth. Both physical and emotional needs are addressed with my service. Additionally I also assist with the whole family adjustment process by helping with older children, meal preparation, and light house cleaning.
I also provide antepartum support for pregnant mothers who have been put on bed rest. I am prepared to give referrals to a variety of local professional resources if necessary.
Just a few benefits of hiring a postpartum doula are:
- Increased breastfeeding success
- Greater self-confidence
- Less postpartum depression
- Enhanced bonding
Some examples of potential postpartum doula clients:
- Families who live away from the help of extended family
- Families adopting an infant
- New parents, whose experience with babies may be limited
- Parents with children who will be adjusting to having an infant in the home
